Technical Officials

The role of a Technical Official at any level during a match or tournament can have as much of a positive, or negative influence on the enjoyment of the players and umpires as well as impact on both sets’ performance.

The guidance videos below are aimed at helping you in your duties before and during a tournament, from checking the equipment of the players and goal keepers through to administering the tournament correctly on AltiusRT.

All of the videos below are no longer than 4 minutes each and can be accessed at anytime, including during a tournament, to support you in your role.

A series of short instructional videos to help the Technical Officers and Judges at a tournament undertake the correct equipment checks to ensure all equipment used conforms to the FIH Rules of Hockey 2017.
Stick Check

Tournament Management
A series of instructional videos to aid a Tournament Director in their pre tournament administration when an event status is Verify and Tournament Director’s/ Technical Officials when the event status is In Progress.
Add Player to System

Changing a Player's Name

Most of these operations are completed at the table, pitch side, during every match in the competition.

Classification Matches
The Classification Matches for every tournament are required to confirm pool placings and finalise arrangements for remaining matches within the tournament. The administration of this stage of the tournament is the responsibility of the TD, which can be delegated to Technical Officers.

Whilst this video is aimed at the TD and Technical Officers, we would encourage Judges to watch this as part of their continued learning.
Manage Tie Break

Post Event
It is the role of the TD to officially confirm the tournament’s completion. This can be done on the evening of the competition or on the following day.

The below video shows the TD how to do this correctly.

Whilst this is the responsibility of the TD, we welcome Technical Officials and Judges to view this as part of their continued learning.
Completing Event
Team Manager
A series of short, instructional videos to assist Team Managers:

1.When the tournament status is Published with the pre-tournament administration of their team and team staff, including the entry of colours, naming of squads, changing player details and team staff roles and responsibilities; and

2.Once the tournament status is In Progress to enter starting lineups for matches.

We would welcome all Team Managers to use this resource to support their pre-tournament administration, as well as all TDs, Technical Officers and Judges to continue their learning of the AltiusRT system.
